The best medicine to maintain our mental and physical health is exercise.  And in fact, getting enough exercise is even more important as we enter the later years of life.  Exercise is the first line of defense for keeping physically and mentally healthy.  Exercise allows us to age more gracefully, and helps minimize what we used to think of as inevitable facts of growing older.  We now know that gentle exercise can help relieve joint stiffness and pain.  We know that exercise can strengthen hearts.  And we are learning that exercise that strengthens the heart is also beneficial in preventing or delaying Alzheimer's and other age-related dementia.  Exercise can also reduce the risk of some cancers.

Resistance training can dramatically help seniors.  Why?  It is the best way to prevent osteoporosis.  A recent study showed that even people in their 80's and 90's can increase their strength and agility and protect bones with modest weekly resistance training.  In addition, resistance training also improved the strength and agility of the participants.  Even the blood pressure of participants was reduced as a result of resistance training.

The new Wellness Center, part of the Sunshine Terrace Foundation's services, now offers a comprehensive, senior focused, affordable plan to allow seniors to take advantage of the miracle that comes from modest exercise year round.

The Wellness Center is the only location in Cache Valley with a full range of exercise equipment that is specifically designed for seniors.  This innovative equipment has all the benefits of a typical gym, but with added safeguards and features important to seniors.

OUTPATIENT THERAPY SERVICES:
In spite of our best intents, we sometimes need the help of a health professional in recovering from surgery or injury.  For years the Sunshine Terrace has offered physical, speech and occupational therapy to residents of the Rehabilitation Center.  With the opening of the Wellness Center, we will now be able to offer our 60 years of expertise to the rest of the community on an out patient basis.  Our team of trained drivers can pick up clients who use these out patient services and return them safely to their home after therapy.

IN-HOME PERSONAL CARE / HOMEMAKING PROGRAM provides help so people who are elderly or have physical or mental disabilities can remain safely in their own homes.  By getting basic help with meal preparation, housework or personal care (such as showering, dressing assistance, walking, and monitoring self-medication), people can realize their dreams of independence.  No one makes a choice to live in a nursing center if they can have the assistance they need to live in their own home.

Our program is designed to be flexible, so that we can work with families who have a variety of work schedules, resources, and family needs.  Services are available on a temporary or regular schedule and on a hourly, part-day or full-day basis.  When family members must work, go to school, or have other fmaily responsibilities, in-home services can mean the difference between full-time nursing care and a life at home, as a vital part of the community.

Our Goal:
Provide continuing health care to seniors at a reasonable price

Please come see what we offer.  We have spent over a year creating an environment with the right equipment, programs and staff.

Come and let us show how you can make
the senior years the best years.
